Time Cells

The Time Cells are solid, synthetic, non-degradable, clear resin blocks, containing the embedded DNA samples of the members, along with small personal artefacts if chosen.

The samples within these resin blocks are airtight, and will remain untouched by light and air so as to remain in an unaffected state indefinitely.
This process also ensures that the samples are tamper-proof.

Some members may also chose not to submit DNA samples, but rather use the resin boxes that the Time Cells are stored in to safely and indefinitely save small items, such as duplicate keys and digital copies of documents and certificates.
This is perfectly fine too, as the storage box sent to the members containing the kit is numbered and hermetically sealed with the contents from the member, to retrieve at some point in the future if needed.

We thus make them available to the contributing member and to individuals that the member has given express permission for access, but to no other parties during a members lifetime, after this they would then need to be accessible to future generations, to be able to fulfil the chief purpose of The Horizon Project.

The great advantage of this method of storage is that the Cells do not require any form of artificial refrigeration, mechanical or technological devices and systems to maintain them, unlike cryonically stored material which is reliant upon being constantly maintained.

Hence we have been able to create this project at a vastly lower cost to the individual member than any other method available, also being within the whole of The Horizon Project it gives the members' samples a greater probability of being successfully located and utilised by later generations too.

This is directly akin to biological material ie. insects and plants, being trapped in perpetuity in amber, which we already know can remain intact for literally millions of years.

The samples can be any or all of either blood, saliva/cheek cells, hair and fingernail clippings, which are sealed in vials and cellophane bags, which are then carefully set into the resin by the project.

Some members will want to include some small artefacts too from their life, and we suggest using the USB memory stick supplied in your kit to perhaps store photographs of themselves, their family, writings or diaries, scans of artwork or music, that they may want to be preserved in the time capsule.

The limitations on this are that any personal items must be able to fit comfortably within the resin box, and cannnot contain anything hazardous.
We do not store valuable items such as rings or jewels either, as this could compromise the security of the Vault and the stored material within.

The size of the Time Cells are 2.25" x 3.5" x 0.75” ( 6cm x 9cm x 2cm ).
Chosen as both a universally recognised dimension,  and an optimal size to both contain the artefacts and for storage.

We will also store cells together when requested, for example if a member wishes to also have a spouse or children's cells stored alongside theirs, we will then reference them together and store them next to each other.

                                                       PET TIME CELLS

Also being offered is the option to store animal Time Cells, so that a member can have their favourite pet's DNA preserved too.
In this case, we will be storing them in a separate purpose built chamber within the main vault, but will cross-reference them with the member's own Time Cell.
Please note here that we will only accept a pet's blood sample which has been professionally taken by a registered
veterinary surgeon, and we will require an authentic confirmation from the veterinary practice submitted to indicate this.

These pet Time Cells do not constitute toward the 144,000 allotted Time Cells, and therefore do not affect these numbers.
